After a long, cold and trying winter- we were overdue for a vacation. Last March we had a vacation planned at an all0-inclusive resort in the Dominican, since it is not the best time to travel outside the U.S., I found an all-inclusive in the states!
This blog post is all about the Bungalows A Luxury All-Inclusive Adult-Only Resort in Key Largo, Florida.
After a lot of back and forth, we ultimately choose to spend our much needed vacation at the Bungalows– (easiest & best decision ever). I stumbled upon the Bungalows after searching like crazy on Instagram, I kept entering “Florida destinations,” “adult only resort,” “Florida resort”, etc. We were specifically looking for a place to go that eliminated renting a car, purchasing beach chairs (and then throwing them out), buying beach towels, spending a ton of money on food/drinks etc. We have been on plenty of vacations where we spent more time screwing around with finding the rental car at the airport, looking for a store that sells beach chairs/towels, finding a near by grocery store for food and then finding a public beach where we can park our rental car. As crazy as this might seem, we wanted to eliminate the hassle and added stress as best we could. So the Bungalows was it!
The Bungalows is located in Key Largo, Florida on the Buttonwood Sound. This stunning resort is an easy 1-hour car ride from Miami Airport. Before our trip, I booked a private transportation company called Florida Sun Transport. This imminently eliminated my worries for booking a rental car and having to deal with all of the problems that come along with it. I HIGHLY recommend this business, I was able to book our trip by simply calling and running through our travel plans, we then were penciled into their books. A few days before our trip, I received a text from the owner solidifying everything and giving us instructions upon our arrival. The same procedure was done on our trip home. The drivers were very very nice, the cars were clean and well kept. We will absolutely use Florida Sun Transport again!
Upon our arrival at the Bungalows- we were immediately greeted by the concierge; where they removed our luggage and placed it off to the side with our room information. While we were waiting to be checked-in, we were greeted by a sweet employee who offered us a delicious welcome drink and we also met the kindest couple (whom we ended up spending most of our time with) and they were on their honeymoon!
After a quick check-in, a blue and white Bungalow themed golf cart picked us up to bring us on a quick tour before dropping us off at our bungalow.
At this resort- every guest has their own individual bungalow and theres only one main building and called the Beach House. The Beach House is where the 3 restaurants, living room lounge space, boutique and pool are all located.
Each bungalow comes with 2 bicycles, a king sized bed, one indoor and outdoor shower, an outdoor tub, and an indoor & outdoor lounge space. || Need I say more? ||
And- every night we would come back to a sweet treat that the staff delivers! These sweets were just what the doctor ordered after an evening out!
Then to top it all off, every time we walked throughout the resort we felt like we were roaming through a tropical jungle. EVERY.SINGLE.PALM TREE. was lit-up. The walk to and from our bungalow to the beach day or night was a dream. The grounds were designed perfectly, every inch of this property was completely well thought out.
Alright…so I am not a huge fan of the water and even when I am on vacation, I rarely go into the ocean or lake. But- this beach setting what right up my alley! One fun fact that we learned about is that the Keys are completely built on coral rock, there are only small or man-made beaches. The beach at Bungalows is man-made and almost build up on a retaining wall. There is a small coral staircase that leads you right into the water if you want to take a quick dip!
One of my favorite parts were the luxurious lounge chairs and beach cabanas! There were too many to count, but plenty to choose from. We were very spoiled every day by the incredibly kind and hardworking waitstaff who diligently visited each couple taking food and beverage orders. Throughout our stay, we became friends with a few of the staff members and we started to recognize one another by name.
On the property, there are three restaurants; Sea Señor, Fish Tales and Bogie & Bacall’s. Each restaurant was phenomenal. We ate at Fish Tales a majority of the time, they served breakfast, small snacks (beachside/poolside), lunch, and dinner. The Sunset Tiki Bar is where you can order small snack plates and drinks at anytime.
Since we booked our stay for four nights, our package included a dinner for two at the Bogie & Bacall’s fine dining restaurant. On our last night we made reservations here and it was well worth the wait. Our server was one of our favorites at the resort, he had waited on us throughout our stay and we were thrilled to see him one last time before we left. From hors d’oeuvres to dessert everything was spot on, we were certainly not counting calories during this dinner. We ordered…Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, lobster bisques, filet, ribeye, mac & cheese, brussel sprouts, and a chocolate torte dessert…I know what you’re thinking. This order was certainly over the top, but we pretty much ate it all (we each still weigh the same). But we have zero regrets, everything was unbelievable, truly delicious.
I know we were on vacation, and you’re supposed to relax on vacation- however Mike and I have a hard time sitting still. Thankfully, the resort had plenty of activities to keep us occupied when we had enough time laying in the sun. Pretty much every morning we took the paddle boards out for a morning stroll across the calm water. We were on the lookout for manatees, sting rays, star fish and nurse sharks- unfortunately we only spotted some fish.
One morning we decided to embark Nest Key Beach Party tour on the Tiki Tai boat which was a day cruise over to a nearby island called Nest Key which was apart of the Everglades. This 4-hour cruise included champagne, beer, soda, lunch and all sorts of snacks. Once we reached the island, we were able to take the kayaks and paddle boards out to explore the key.
On Friday night, we set sail on an evening sunset cruise with the couples we met. This leisure cruise was on was spacious catamaran with music, refreshments and various appetizers. At precisely 7:34pm, we watched the fiery sun sink slowly into the horizon.
All-in-all, this vacation was by far the best. We had such an amazing time, we met so many wonderful, good people that we hope to see again. After a very hard and trying year, it felt so nice to take a step back from reality and enjoy one another. We’re so blessed to have been able to vacation at the Bungalows and we know for sure that we will be back.
